About the role
The Project Assistant will conduct structured telephone surveys with caregivers of school‑age children in Sierra Leone. The data collected will help senior project staff identify programme participants and improve implementation of ongoing projects.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct telephone interviews with selected caregivers following a standardized questionnaire.
- Obtain informed consent, explain the survey purpose, and ensure confidentiality.
- Enter responses accurately into the designated data‑collection system.
- Use non‑leading probes to clarify answers when needed.
- Perform callbacks and follow‑up as instructed.
- Escalate any concerns, inconsistencies, or technical issues to the Project Manager.
- Complete assigned interviews within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
Required profile
- High school diploma with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Experience conducting household or telephone interviews, preferably on child‑focused or social‑protection surveys.
- Completion of safeguarding and child‑protection training before start date.
- Fluent in English and Krio, and fluent in one of Mende, Temne or Soso.
Required skills
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for data entry while conversing.
- Familiarity with ODK, SurveyCTO, Kobo Toolbox or similar data‑collection platforms.
