Senior Manager Communications – Consultant (Freetown Co‑Chair’s Office)

About the role

The Consultant – Senior Manager Communications will support the Freetown Co‑Chair’s Office within C40’s Governance & Executive Engagement team. This senior‑level position leads the communication strategy that showcases the achievements of C40 cities and advances the climate agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the Freetown Co‑Chair’s Office.
• Produce and disseminate high‑impact content (press releases, briefs, reports, digital media) highlighting city‑level climate actions.
• Manage media relations and coordinate outreach with local, regional, and international stakeholders.
• Collaborate with C40’s research and policy teams to translate technical findings into accessible narratives.
• Support the Co‑Chair in preparing speeches, presentations, and briefing materials.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in communications, public affairs or media relations.
• Strong understanding of climate‑change initiatives and city‑level sustainability programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, fast‑moving environment.
