Chief Planning & Monitoring (P-4) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Chief Planning & Monitoring will lead the coordination of programme planning, implementation monitoring and reporting for UNICEF Sierra Leone. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures that programme activities are data‑driven, aligned with UNICEF’s results‑based management approach and comply with Knowledge Management and HACT standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance to programme sections and field offices on planning, budgeting and monitoring processes.
• Oversee the production of regular reports, situation analyses, secondary data analyses and infographics on child‑deprivation indicators.
• Ensure adherence to Knowledge Management, HACT and Results‑Based Management frameworks.
• Coordinate budget and contribution monitoring, programme assurance and quality‑assurance activities.
• Facilitate capacity development, networking and partnership building to strengthen evidence‑based decision‑making.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development, Public Administration, Statistics, Demography or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of professional experience at national or international level in programme planning, budget oversight, monitoring and evaluation.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale programmes and previous role as Chief Planning & Monitoring or Programme Monitoring & Evaluation officer.
