Project Director, CDC C&T Sierra Leone

About the role

The Project Director will provide strategic leadership, management and oversight for a CDC‑funded programme that strengthens the national HIV care and treatment (C&T) system in Sierra Leone. The role ensures the programme meets donor requirements, aligns with national health priorities and delivers high‑quality results over a five‑year period.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall vision, leadership and management for the CDC‑funded HIV C&T strengthening project.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with CDC, PEPFAR and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting to ensure objectives are met within scope, time and budget.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, civil society organisations and partners.
• Ensure compliance with donor regulations, CDC policies and organisational procedures.
• Represent the programme at national and international forums.
• Oversee operational and administrative functions, including HR and finance.
• Coordinate technical teams to align activities with programme objectives.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, medicine or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience managing complex public‑health programmes, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Proven expertise in HIV/AIDS programmes and health‑systems strengthening.
• Experience with PEPFAR‑funded programmes or CDC cooperative agreements.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Fluent in English; ability to travel within Sierra Leone.
