Advocacy and Communications Coordinator

About the role
The Advocacy and Communications Coordinator will support the Sierra Leone Coastal Resilience Project (SLCRP) by implementing advocacy, communication and social‑behavior change activities at field level. Based in Freetown, the role requires frequent travel to project districts and coastal communities to engage stakeholders, document progress and raise the profile of climate‑resilience work.
Key responsibilities
- Support the project advocacy strategy, coordinating climate‑resilience advocacy initiatives at national and district levels.
- Organise stakeholder consultations, policy dialogues, community engagement events and advocacy campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, partners, civil‑society organisations, media and local communities.
- Develop advocacy inputs such as policy briefs, talking points, position papers and campaign materials.
- Implement the communication and visibility plan in line with donor and Save the Children branding requirements.
- Produce communication products – newsletters, briefs, blogs, reports, case studies and stories of change.
- Coordinate multimedia content creation (photos, videos, testimonials, human‑interest stories) and support media engagements.
- Document project achievements, lessons learned and best practices, maintaining an organised repository of communication and knowledge‑management outputs.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in advocacy, communication and stakeholder engagement for climate‑resilience or development projects.
- Ability to travel frequently to project districts and coastal communities.
- Familiarity with donor reporting and branding guidelines.
- Proven ability to produce written and multimedia communication materials.
- Strong networking skills with government, partners, media and community groups.
