Deputy Representative – Programme (P-5) – Fixed-Term, Freetown

About the role

The Deputy Representative Programme will support the Country Office Representative in leading UNICEF’s programme delivery in Sierra Leone. Based in Freetown, the role combines strategic oversight, partnership building and humanitarian response to ensure timely, efficient and principled outcomes for children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development and implementation of the Country Office programme in line with UNICEF strategic plans.
• Support the Representative in managing overall Country Office operations and performance.
• Monitor programme quality, ensure accountability and conduct regular reviews.
• Represent UNICEF in alliance building, coordination with UN system partners and external stakeholders.
• Develop and manage private‑sector partnerships to mobilise resources and expertise.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives across the office.
• Ensure security of personnel, programmes and organisational assets.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, public policy or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of professional experience combining technical and managerial responsibilities in development, humanitarian or related sectors.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex programmes.
