Deputy Representative Programme (P-5) – Fixed-Term, Freetown

About the role

The Deputy Representative Programme supports the Country Office Representative in leading UNICEF’s country programme in Sierra Leone. This senior P-5 position provides strategic guidance, oversees programme delivery, and ensures alignment with UNICEF’s global standards and humanitarian policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development and implementation of the Country Office programme, from formulation to results delivery.
• Support the Representative in overall management of the Country Office, including policy development and strategic direction.
• Monitor programme performance, ensure quality control and accountability across all interventions.
• Represent UNICEF in partnership building, UN system coordination and alliance development with public and private sectors.
• Drive private‑sector engagement, innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Oversee security of personnel, programmes and organisational assets.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, public policy, sociology, community development or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of professional experience combining technical expertise and managerial responsibilities in development or humanitarian contexts.
• Proven ability to lead large, multi‑stakeholder programmes and to work effectively in a protracted humanitarian setting.
