Director of Programme Development and Quality

About the role

The Director of Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) is a senior member of Save the Children’s Senior Leadership Team in Sierra Leone. The role drives the design, implementation and evaluation of high‑impact, evidence‑based programmes for children, aligning with the organisation’s global Breakthroughs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional development and delivery of Country Strategy Plans and annual work plans.
• Ensure a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system is in place and that data informs decision‑making.
• Represent the country office with government, donors, partners and other stakeholders.
• Oversee project design to align with child‑rights principles and donor expectations.
• Provide strategic guidance during humanitarian emergencies, adapting working hours as needed.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in programme development, quality assurance and MEAL within the humanitarian or development sector.
• Proven senior leadership capabilities, including strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong understanding of child protection and rights‑based programming.
• Ability to work in complex, multi‑task environments and travel regularly to operational areas.
