Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are looking for a highly analytical Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations. Working remotely with finance, marketing and operations teams across Africa, you will design advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards and interactive templates that turn raw numbers into actionable business intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel workbooks, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from CRMs, ERPs and cloud databases using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance‑tracking models for senior management.
• Audit existing Excel files, troubleshoot formula errors and ensure 100 % data integrity.
• Translate technical insights into clear visual formats and train remote cross‑functional teams on using the tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modelling.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate across African time zones.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• VBA programming and macro development.
• Experience with Power BI, SQL databases or data‑visualisation principles.
