Management Accountant

About the role

Avava Consulting is seeking a Management Accountant to join its on‑site team in Sierra Leone. You will prepare, analyse and interpret financial information to support strategic decision‑making and business planning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
• Review accruals, pre‑payments and perform period‑end adjustments.
• Reconcile accounts and ensure financial statements are accurate and compliant.
• Monitor budgets and forecasts, conduct variance analysis and highlight trends, risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with operational teams to explain results, support cost‑control initiatives and develop financial models and reports.

Required profile

• Strong finance and accounting knowledge, including budgeting and cost control.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements with attention to accuracy and compliance.
• Advanced analytical ability to interpret data and present clear recommendations.
• Relevant professional qualification or degree (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) preferred.
• High integrity, detail‑orientation and ability to communicate financial concepts to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Experience in emerging markets is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, basic financial modelling).
