About the role
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Sierra Leone is seeking a National Health Management Information System (HMIS) Consultant for a 12‑month assignment based in Freetown. The consultant will support the Ministry of Health and UNICEF’s Health and Nutrition programme by strengthening digital health systems and data‑driven decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Strengthen capacity at facility and community levels for the administration and use of the national HMIS, including DHIS2 and the Community Health Information System (CHIS).
- Support implementation of digital health initiatives such as the Scorecard, Bottleneck Analysis and Action Tracker.
- Design and deploy electronic data collection tools for Nutrition, EPI, RMNCH, Community Health and other programmes using platforms like EPI Info and KoBoToolbox.
- Maintain up‑to‑date infographics and Power BI dashboards to monitor performance and inform programme decisions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Public Health, Statistics, Demography, Computer Science, Monitoring & Evaluation or a related field.
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience with health information systems, DHIS2 configuration, electronic data collection tools, data quality assurance and dashboard development, preferably in Sierra Leone or a similar context.
Required skills
- DHIS2 administration and configuration.
- KoBoToolbox and EPI Info survey tools.
- Power BI dashboard development.
- Data quality assessment methodologies.
