Needs Assessment and Options Analysis for Teacher Digital Support

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an international consultant to lead a needs assessment on how digital tools, including AI, can enhance the uptake of newly developed teaching and learning materials for pre‑primary and primary teachers in Sierra Leone. The consultancy will produce actionable findings to guide future investments, tool development, and training initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment on digital and AI tools for teachers and head teachers.
• Analyse current uptake of new pedagogical approaches and identify gaps.
• Prepare a report with recommendations for tool development, training, or small‑scale pilots.
• Engage with government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to validate findings.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Education, EdTech, Economics of Education, Public Policy, ICT or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years experience in blended learning, education technology, and teacher capacity development.
• Strong understanding of early‑grade teaching methods, inclusive education, and teacher training.
• Proven experience designing digital tools for teacher capacity building and delivering training workshops.
• Previous work in African contexts and excellent spoken and written English.
