Site Assistant – Mechanical (Mining)

About the role

We are looking for a mechanically‑inclined Site Assistant to support the mechanical team at our mining operation in Sierra Leone. The role involves assisting with routine maintenance, repairs and inspections of plant machinery and equipment on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist mechanics and technicians with routine maintenance and repairs of machinery and equipment.
• Support servicing, inspection, dismantling, cleaning and re‑assembly of mechanical components.
• Help change oils, filters, belts, hoses and other mechanical parts.
• Identify and report mechanical faults or abnormal equipment conditions.
• Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and use appropriate PPE.

Required profile

• Technical or vocational certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics or related field (advantageous).
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Assistant, Fitter Assistant, Workshop Assistant or similar role preferred.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work in a demanding mining environment.
• Willingness to work shifts/rotational schedules at remote mining locations.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment and maintenance practices.
• Basic understanding of diesel engines and mechanical systems.
