About the role
UNICEF Sierra Leone is looking for a motivated intern to support its artificial intelligence (AI) roadmap and digital innovation initiatives. The role will involve documenting AI use cases, assisting with learning sessions, and coordinating AI‑related activities across programme and operations sections.
Key responsibilities
- Support coordination of the AI roadmap and document practical AI use cases.
- Track focal points, quick‑wins, timelines and action items for the SLCO AI roadmap.
- Gather AI‑related needs, opportunities and challenges from section focal points.
- Prepare meeting notes, action points and updates from AI discussions.
- Assist in creating materials for AI learning sessions, prompt‑engineering clinics and demonstrations.
- Document useful prompts, examples, lessons learned and guidance notes for staff.
- Organise AI resources, templates and presentations on SharePoint or other internal platforms.
- Collect feedback from AI learning activities and summarise key insights.
- Document AI/NLP actors, language technology groups, universities, youth innovators and partners in Sierra Leone.
- Support planning and documentation for AI/NLP convenings, innovation challenges, hackathons or youth‑focused events.
- Provide documentation and follow‑up for digital‑innovation workstreams such as DPG/DPI mapping, DPG Academia, DPG Accelerator, CRAT, U‑Report, Learning Passport and RapidPro.
- Maintain trackers, consolidate updates and prepare briefs, presentations and knowledge products that show how AI and digital innovation contribute to results for children.
Required profile
- Open to Sierra Leonean students or recent graduates.

- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Prompt engineering
- SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms
