Assistant Project Manager

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager will support the coordination and implementation of AVSI's clean cooking project in Sierra Leone, reporting to the Project Manager and Country Representative. This 12‑month fixed‑term position involves field travel and close collaboration with donors, partners, and internal thematic leads.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in supervising project activities to ensure compliance with approved proposals, budgets, and timelines.
• Support achievement of project targets and key performance indicators.
• Promote synergies with other national and international programmes.
• Monitor, evaluate, and systematise project progress, preparing narrative and financial reports for donors.
• Collect and verify documentation required for donor reporting.
• Develop relationships with donors, partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with HQ thematic leads to share strategies, innovations, and lessons learned.
• Contribute to AVSI’s global knowledge network by sharing significant experiences.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Energy, Rural Development, Economics, Management, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies or related field.
• At least one year of experience in a development or humanitarian context, preferably in clean cooking projects in Africa.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English (C1 level).
