Business Development Lead – C&I Renewable Energy (Mano River Union)

About the role
We are a fast‑growing renewable energy developer seeking a Business Development Lead to drive commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy sales and project origination across the Mano River Union region (Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea). The role will manage the full business development cycle from opportunity sourcing to contract signing, working closely with cross‑functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, originate, and qualify C&I renewable energy opportunities across the MRU region.
- Develop proposals and convert qualified leads into revenue‑generating projects.
- Lead technical, financial and risk assessments, building and interpreting financial models to support investment decisions.
- Structure pricing models and commercial terms to meet profitability targets.
- Engage industrial and commercial clients, conduct needs assessments and negotiate contracts.
- Navigate regulatory requirements, permitting processes and government engagement in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
- Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal and HSES teams to prepare bankable, investment‑ready projects.
- Track market trends, competitor activities and maintain accurate pipeline and performance dashboards.
Required profile
- 7–10 years of senior‑level experience in C&I renewable energy business development in emerging markets.
- Strong strategic thinking with a proven network in mining, manufacturing or agro‑processing sectors.
- Excellent client engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
- Deep familiarity with regulatory frameworks and permitting processes in the MRU countries.
- Ability to take projects from origination through to contract signing.
