Deputy Manager – Safety & Security

About the role

The Deputy Manager – Safety & Security will oversee daily safety and security performance for Rainforest Builder’s operations in Sierra Leone. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role is based in Bo and requires regular travel to remote forest sites.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce safe systems of work across all operational sites.
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits and incident investigations.
• Coordinate safety inductions and training programmes for staff and contractors.
• Directly manage camp security guards and provide functional oversight to in‑field forest guards on security matters.
• Maintain and operate the CCTV camera system, ensuring proper coverage and data integrity.
• Lead response to security incidents in line with company SOPs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Security Management, Criminology or related field (or HND with relevant experience).
• NEBOSH International General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely certification (or equivalent).
• Minimum three years of safety and/or security experience, preferably in large‑scale agriculture, forestry, construction or industrial settings.
• Proven experience supervising security personnel.
• Willingness to live and work in remote areas and travel to challenging terrain.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using safety and security data reporting systems.
• Ability to manage CCTV or other electronic security systems.
