Finance and Compliance Coordinator

About the role

The Finance and Compliance Coordinator will support the Country Office in Sierra Leone by overseeing accounting, financial reporting and compliance processes. The role ensures data integrity, timely reporting and adherence to AVSI procedures, donor requirements and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the use and optimisation of the NAVISION accounting system, validate transactions and ensure accurate financial records.
• Coordinate monthly, semi‑annual and annual closing processes, including bank reconciliations, AP/AR reviews and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, donor reports and budget monitoring tools to support management decisions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of donor and regulatory requirements, support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency of financial and administrative operations.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, finance reporting or compliance, preferably in NGOs or donor‑funded projects.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills with high integrity and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with NAVISION (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial monitoring and reporting.
