Finance and Compliance Coordinator

About the role

The Finance and Compliance Coordinator will support the Country Office’s accounting, financial reporting and compliance processes, ensuring data integrity, timely reporting and adherence to AVSI procedures, donor requirements and local regulations. The role is based in Freetown with occasional missions to secondary offices.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the use and optimisation of the NAVISION accounting system, validate transactions and ensure accurate reconciliations.
• Coordinate monthly, semi‑annual and annual closing processes, prepare financial statements and cash‑flow reports.
• Analyse financial data, identify trends and risks, and provide information to project managers for decision‑making.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of donor requirements, support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency of financial and administrative operations.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in accounting, finance or compliance, preferably in NGOs or donor‑funded projects.
• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
• Excellent written and spoken English; French is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with NAVISION (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial monitoring and reporting.
