Food and Nutrition Security Coordination Facilitator

About the role

The Food and Nutrition Security Coordination Facilitator will support FAO Sierra Leone in strengthening multi‑sectoral coordination for food and nutrition security. Working closely with the FAO Representative, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, UN agencies and development partners, the incumbent will revitalize the Food and Nutrition Security Working Group (FNSWG) and ensure effective, evidence‑based decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update the Terms of Reference for the FNSWG and operationalise coordination platforms at national and sub‑national levels.
• Facilitate regular coordination meetings (quarterly and ad‑hoc) and promote information sharing among government, UN agencies, NGOs and the private sector.
• Align interventions with national policies, integrating nutrition, climate resilience, gender and youth considerations.
• Identify and mentor a government focal point, providing capacity‑building to ensure sustainable hand‑over of coordination functions.
• Support the development and implementation of a coordination‑strengthening plan and contribute to national processes such as the Food Systems Action Plan and Right‑to‑Food initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in multi‑stakeholder coordination within the agriculture, nutrition or development sector.
• Strong understanding of food systems, nutrition security and climate‑resilient livelihoods.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries, UN agencies and development partners.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
