Head of New Business Development

About the role

The Head of New Business Development will lead the design and execution of Save the Children’s funding strategy in Sierra Leone, working closely with the Country Director, PDQ Director and programme teams to secure resources that enable delivery of the Country Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate the annual funding strategy and engagement plan with donors, partners and internal stakeholders.
• Lead the capture planning process, identify high‑value opportunities and ensure timely, high‑quality proposal development.
• Oversee concept note creation, proposal writing, risk assessment, budgeting and compliance with donor and Save the Children procedures.
• Act as the primary liaison with regional programme funding teams, ensuring alignment and sharing of best practices across the Movement.
• Coordinate reviews, incorporate feedback and manage the finalisation and submission of proposals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, fundraising or resource mobilisation within the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong understanding of donor requirements, proposal cycles and risk management.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and geographic locations.
• Level 3 child safeguarding clearance, reflecting regular contact with children or young people.

Required skills
