IT Officer

About the role

A non-profit and NGO organisation is looking for a highly skilled IT Officer to lead its technology infrastructure and keep its digital ecosystem running smoothly. The role covers the full lifecycle of network and server environments, with a strong focus on protecting computer systems and electronic data. It also includes designing and deploying tailored systems, supervising computing activities within budget, specifications and timelines, and overseeing computing needs across operational districts.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the management of IT assets and computer systems to support organisational goals.
• Plan, organise, control and evaluate all IT operations and electronic data workflows.
• Lead the IT team through recruitment, training, performance appraisals and clear communication of job expectations.
• Oversee installation and configuration of hardware and software such as printers, network cards, photocopiers and tablets.
• Align technical solutions with user needs to support policy development and implementation.
• Identify operational challenges and implement strategic solutions quickly.
• Enforce asset preservation, information security and access control protocols.
• Monitor network and IT infrastructure performance and schedule maintenance such as data backups.
• Manage troubleshooting, hardware repairs and data restoration to minimise downtime.
• Protect networks, data storage and communication channels, and assess new IT systems and technologies.
• Manage software licensing, follow upgrade schedules and recommend hardware replacements.
• Work with cross-functional colleagues to maintain high standards of functionality.
