Janitor – Environmental Health Worker

About the role

The Janitor (Environmental Health Worker) will ensure that the Wellbody Clinic and its surrounding grounds in Kono District remain clean, safe and sanitary for patients, staff and visitors. This role is essential to supporting the delivery of high‑quality health services in a resource‑limited setting.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub and clean building floors, ceilings and walls.
• Empty trash containers, manage waste pits and handle waste disposal, including burning where appropriate.
• Distribute and track linens across departments, ensuring clean supplies are available.
• Service patient rooms and other areas, refill toiletries and other consumables as needed.
• Maintain the clinic’s exterior: trim lawns, clear debris, remove weeds and plant flowers.
• Mix and handle chlorine solutions for sanitation.
• Assist with patient flow management and transportation within the facility.
• Maintain an inventory database of cleaning materials and equipment in collaboration with the Operations team.

Required profile

• Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks and lift moderate loads.
• Reliability and willingness to work in a health‑care environment.
• Basic literacy to record linen usage and inventory data.

Required skills

• Floor cleaning techniques (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing).
• Linen handling and tracking.
• Chlorine mixing for disinfection.
• Operation of basic cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, waste bins).
