Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Laboratory Technician supports patient care by performing diagnostic tests in biochemistry, haematology and microbiology. Working in a ISO‑15189:2022 compliant laboratory, you will ensure accurate, timely results that guide clinical decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, label and process clinical specimens (blood, urine, fluids) according to SOPs.
• Perform biochemical, haematological and microbiological tests such as CBC, ESR, liver/kidney panels, bacterial cultures and Gram stains.
• Operate automated analyzers and manual testing methods, maintaining equipment readiness.
• Conduct daily quality control, participate in proficiency testing and document all activities.
• Record and report results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and promptly notify clinicians of critical values.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
• Follow biosafety, infection‑prevention and chemical‑safety procedures and ensure compliance with national regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
• Certified Biomedical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent certification.
• Prior experience in a diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred.
