About the role
The Laboratory Technician supports patient care by performing diagnostic tests in biochemistry, haematology and microbiology. Working in a ISO‑15189:2022 compliant laboratory, you will ensure accurate, timely results that guide clinical decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, label and process clinical specimens (blood, urine, fluids) according to SOPs.
- Perform biochemical, haematological and microbiological tests such as CBC, ESR, liver/kidney panels, bacterial cultures and Gram stains.
- Operate automated analyzers and manual testing methods, maintaining equipment readiness.
- Conduct daily quality control, participate in proficiency testing and document all activities.
- Record and report results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and promptly notify clinicians of critical values.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
- Follow biosafety, infection‑prevention and chemical‑safety procedures and ensure compliance with national regulations.
Required profile
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- Certified Biomedical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience in a diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Operation of automated analyzers and manual testing methods.
- Conducting quality control and proficiency testing.
- Equipment calibration and troubleshooting.
- Specimen handling and processing.
