Nutanix Engineer (Break & Fix Support)

About the role

An experienced Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer is sought to provide break and fix support for enterprise infrastructure. This is a freelance, on-call position based in Freetown, Sierra Leone, covering the city. The role suits someone who can quickly diagnose and resolve hardware, network and infrastructure incidents while keeping a high standard of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote break and fix support for networking and infrastructure incidents.
• Deploy, configure and manage Nutanix HCI environments (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization and network issues, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS and DHCP.
• Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Respond to critical incidents and service requests within agreed response times.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams on infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, incident reports and service records.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, networking or IT support engineering.
• Valid CCNA certification, ID/passport and valid work permit.
• Fluent English and local communication skills.
• Preferred: Nutanix certification (NCP or higher) and experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Nutanix (AOS, AHV, Prism) and VMware and/or Hyper-V environments.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Proven break and fix support experience in enterprise settings.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• PowerShell and/or Python scripting is advantageous.
