Powerplant Chemist – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

As a Powerplant Chemist you will monitor the chemical condition and environmental performance of a power plant, overseeing water and wastewater treatment, emission measurement, fuel‑gas analysis and laboratory activities while collaborating with operations, maintenance, Q&EHS and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor chemical condition of the plant and environmental aspects during day‑to‑day operations, including emission measurement and fuel‑gas analysis.
• Oversee water‑treatment and wastewater‑treatment facilities, ensuring proper chemical parameters and reliable boiler water chemistry.
• Lead laboratory activities, supervise chemical engineers and technicians, maintain equipment and manage consumables.
• Utilize plant management systems for fault notifications, work orders, shift logs and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on chemistry and environmental matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical roles within power plants or industrial process plants, including hands‑on water and wastewater treatment and boiler operation.
• Experience working in multinational, multicultural teams; international experience is a plus.
• Certifications: Air Pollution Prevention Professional Personnel – Class “A”, Wastewater Treatment Professional Personnel – Class “A”.
