About the role
The Programme & Operations Intern will support UN Women’s gender‑equality initiatives in Sierra Leone, gaining practical experience in programme implementation, operations, and administration while working both virtually and on‑site.
Key responsibilities
- Support programme specialists and operations managers in implementing UN Women’s gender‑equality initiatives in Sierra Leone.
- Assist with administrative tasks, data collection, and reporting for flagship programmes such as women’s leadership, ending violence, and economic empowerment.
- Participate in virtual and on‑site learning activities, contributing to research, stakeholder mapping and knowledge‑sharing across sectors like agriculture, trade, digital innovation and peace‑building.
- Provide logistical support for events, workshops and community outreach as required.
Required profile
- Recent graduate or final‑year university student with a degree related to gender studies, development, social sciences, economics, public policy or a related field.
- Strong interest in gender equality, women’s empowerment and multilateral development work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
Required skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency.
