About the role

The Sector Programme Officer – Education and Life Skills supports the Programme Manager in planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting LEARN IPF activities across assigned locations. The role ensures quality delivery of literacy, numeracy, life‑skills and safe learning interventions in partnership with schools, communities, faith actors and government bodies.

Key responsibilities

  • Support needs assessments, community reviews and context analysis to identify education and life‑skills priorities.
  • Prepare annual work plans, detailed implementation plans, budgets and activity schedules for approval.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of LEARN IPF activities within budget, timeframe and quality standards.
  • Facilitate project models such as Unlock Literacy, Learning Roots, IMPACT+, Youth Ready and Safe and Nurturing Schools.
  • Strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy through teacher coaching, mentoring, differentiated instruction and learning materials.
  • Implement life‑skills, socio‑emotional learning, resilience‑building and adolescent readiness activities for children and youth (especially ages 12‑18).
  • Integrate child protection, safeguarding and PROTECT standards into all education activities.
  • Build capacity of staff, teachers, volunteers, community leaders and partners through orientation, training and technical back‑stopping.

Required profile

  • Experience supporting programme managers in education or life‑skills projects.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding standards.
  • Ability to work with diverse partners including schools, faith actors and government agencies.
