Executive Director – EuroCham Sierra Leone

About the role

The European Chamber of Commerce in Sierra Leone (EuroCham) is seeking its first Executive Director to lead the establishment of the Chamber in Freetown. Reporting to the Founding Council, the Executive Director will build the organisation from the ground up and represent EuroCham with government, EU institutions and business partners.

Key responsibilities

• Set up the office, procedures, financial systems and recruit a small Secretariat team.
• Develop and implement membership acquisition strategies and provide after‑care services to members.
• Organise events, public‑private dialogues and networking activities with government and private sector stakeholders.
• Manage the Chamber’s projects, budgets and reporting, ensuring compliance and transparency.
• Represent EuroCham in meetings with government officials, EU delegations, embassies and partner organisations.

Required profile

• Proven track record of running an organisation, project or business unit with responsibility for budgets and reporting.
• Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with senior business and government leaders.
• Deep understanding of the business environment in Sierra Leone or West Africa and how European companies operate there.
• High initiative, independence and ability to thrive in a start‑up setting using modern IT tools.
• Integrity and reliability in handling funds, projects and confidential information.
• University degree combined with relevant professional experience and excellent command of English.
