About the role
The Community Engagement Specialist will lead the design and implementation of community‑based strategies to support HIV prevention, care, and treatment. Working in diverse settings, the role focuses on building trust, reducing stigma, and ensuring sustainable community participation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute culturally sensitive community engagement plans aligned with program goals.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with community leaders, civil society groups, and other stakeholders.
- Lead initiatives to combat stigma and discrimination related to HIV/AIDS.
- Design and facilitate awareness campaigns on HIV prevention and care.
- Strengthen the capacity of community health workers to deliver effective services.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on community engagement activities, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in social sciences, public health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in community mobilization, preferably within HIV/AIDS programs.
- Strong understanding of cultural dynamics and community structures in Sierra Leone or similar contexts.
- Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
- Proven track record of collaborative work with diverse stakeholders.
