National Expert – Sierra Leone Child Poverty Report

About the role

Development Expertise Lab (DEL) is seeking a Sierra Leone‑based National Expert to lead the multidimensional and monetary child poverty analysis for the updated Sierra Leone Child Poverty Report. The role involves close collaboration with Statistics Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, and other national stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the 2025/26 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) data to produce child poverty estimates.
• Support capacity‑building activities for government and partner staff.
• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and presentation materials.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations at national and sub‑national levels.
• Coordinate with DEL’s international team to ensure timely delivery of deliverables.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in statistics, economics, demography, data science, public policy or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience analysing household survey micro‑data (MICS, DHS, income‑expenditure surveys, etc.).
• At least five years of experience in poverty analysis, child‑rights research, or related social policy work.
• Strong knowledge of Sierra Leone’s poverty, child‑rights and social‑protection context (highly desirable).
• Based in Sierra Leone with excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Krio is an asset.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in STATA.
• Advanced proficiency in R.
• Experience with survey‑weighted analysis and reproducible coding practices.
