Project Manager – Clean Cooking Initiative

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the implementation of the Clean Cooking project in Sierra Leone, ensuring that all activities meet the approved proposal, budget, and timeline. Reporting to the Country Program Coordinator and Country Representative, the role also coordinates with donor and thematic leads.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and take final responsibility for all project activities, ensuring alignment with the approved proposal, budget, and schedule.
• Achieve all project targets and key performance indicators.
• Recruit, orient, and train project staff; strengthen their capacity and autonomy.
• Apply AVSI logistics, safety, security, communication, and administrative procedures in collaboration with the Operations Manager and donor leads.
• Promote synergies with other national and international projects and monitor progress.
• Collect and verify documentation for donor reporting; prepare narrative and financial reports.
• Maintain proactive relationships with donors, partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Represent AVSI in sector coordination structures, clusters, and working groups at provincial and national levels.

Required profile

• Reports directly to the Country Program Coordinator (1st Supervisor) and Country Representative (2nd Supervisor).
• Functional reporting to relevant donor/sector leads, Clean Cooking Thematic Lead, and GIZ/RVO donor lead.
• Responsible for coordinating and achieving project targets in the clean cooking sector.
• Experience in supervising staff, recruitment, and capacity building.
• Ability to apply AVSI logistical, safety, security, communication, and administrative procedures.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with donors, partners, and authorities.
