Critical Care Nurse Supervisor

About the role

The Critical Care Nurse Supervisor leads the nursing team in the Critical Care Unit at Koidu Hospital, ensuring safe, patient‑centered care for critically ill patients. This role blends clinical expertise with day‑to‑day administrative duties, supporting staff and maintaining high standards of practice.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate nursing staff, assigning duties based on patient acuity and staff competence.
• Monitor patient conditions, assist with complex or emergency cases, and lead safety huddles and handovers.
• Develop duty rosters, manage staffing levels, and ensure appropriate skill mix.
• Oversee clinical incidents, patient complaints, and emergency responses, escalating as required.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and consumables, monitoring stock and coordinating replenishment.
• Prepare and maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with the CCU Consultant and Clinical Nurse Educator to assess learning needs and deliver orientation, competency, and continuing education programs.
• Organise simulation‑based training and emergency response drills.
• Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, tracking key indicators.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current license to practice.
• Significant experience in critical care nursing, preferably with supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of hospital policies, infection control, and regulatory standards.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and staff development skills.
