About the role
The Critical Care Nurse Supervisor leads the nursing team in the Critical Care Unit at Koidu Hospital, ensuring safe, patient‑centered care and smooth unit operations. This position blends clinical expertise with day‑to‑day administrative duties to maintain high standards of care.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate critical care nursing staff, assigning duties based on patient acuity and staff competence.
- Monitor patient conditions, support staff during complex or emergency cases, and lead safety huddles and handovers.
- Develop duty rosters, manage staffing levels and skill mix, and oversee recruitment, orientation and retention of nurses.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection‑prevention protocols and regulatory standards.
- Manage clinical incidents, patient complaints and emergencies, escalating as required.
- Maintain availability, safe use and maintenance of medical equipment, supplies and consumables; monitor stock and coordinate replenishment.
- Prepare accurate clinical and administrative documentation and generate required reports.
- Collaborate with the CCU Consultant and Clinical Nurse Educator to assess learning needs, deliver orientation, competency programmes and simulation‑based training.
- Lead quality‑improvement and patient‑safety initiatives, tracking key indicators.
Required profile
- Proven experience supervising nursing staff in a critical care environment.
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing practices and patient‑flow management.
- Ability to conduct performance reviews, provide mentorship and support staff development.
- Excellent communication skills for handovers, safety huddles and multidisciplinary collaboration.
