Maternal and Child Health Aide (MCH Aide)

About the role

The Maternal and Child Health Aide (MCH Aide) is a key member of the Partners In Health team in Sierra Leone. Working under the supervision of the facility midwife and the Wellbody clinical lead, the Aide provides comprehensive maternal and newborn health services across PIH‑supported sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to pregnant women, new mothers and their babies.
• Provide the full package of newborn care as defined by Sierra Leone national guidelines.
• Identify sick infants, coordinate with the clinical team and arrange transfer to KGH/MCOE or the Birth Waiting Home when needed.
• Conduct routine daily postnatal care for women and infants up to six weeks after delivery.
• Collaborate with the midwife to evaluate postnatal patients and ensure continuity of care.

• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and support staff.
• Willingness to operate under the supervision of a midwife and clinical lead.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, comprehensive maternal and newborn health services.
