Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant

About the role

Partners In Health is seeking an experienced Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant to join the Maternal Center of Excellence at Koidu Government Hospital in Kono District, Sierra Leone. The role involves delivering high‑quality reproductive and maternal health services while mentoring local health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynecologic care, including high‑risk prenatal clinics.
• Lead labor and delivery services, performing vaginal births, Cesarean sections, and assisted deliveries (vacuum/forceps).
• Perform minor and major gynecologic surgeries such as myomectomies, hysterectomies, laparoscopic procedures, hysteroscopies, and cystectomies.
• Mentor resident doctors, medical officers, nurses, midwives, and community health officers.
• Develop and implement clinical protocols and SGBV guidelines.
• Organize daily rounds, clinical case reviews, and training sessions.
• Participate in community outreach for high‑risk pregnancy screening, cervical cancer screening, and family planning.

Required profile

• Board‑certified OB/GYN with several years of clinical experience.
• Proven ability to supervise and mentor multidisciplinary health teams.
• Willingness to work on a minimum 12‑month international assignment.
• Strong collaboration skills with Ministry of Health initiatives.
