Operating Room Nurse (Scrub & Recovery) – 7 Vacancies

About the role

The operating room nurse will support surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures at MCOE/KGH in Kono District. The role involves preparing the theatre, ensuring sterility, monitoring patients, and assisting with post‑operative care for both scrub and recovery duties.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and perform all nursing activities in the operating theatre following hygiene and universal protocols.
• Prepare and check surgical equipment and materials for quality and quantity.
• Receive, transport, and position patients from the preparation room to the operating theatre.
• Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgery, anticipating their needs.
• Monitor patient vital signs together with the nurse anaesthetist.
• Manage patient transport to the recovery room and supervise post‑operative activities.
• Implement sterilisation, asepsis and disinfection procedures throughout all phases.
• Supervise and train nurse‑aides and cleaners on proper protocols.
• Perform cleaning and minor maintenance of biomedical equipment and report malfunctions.
• Maintain stock of equipment and materials, ensuring efficient use.
• Complete administrative tasks such as patient identity verification, consent checks, and surgical data collection.
