Project Manager – Clean Cooking Projects

About the role

AVSI is seeking a Project Manager to lead the implementation of clean‑cooking initiatives across Africa. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all performance targets while fostering strong partnerships with donors and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all project activities, ensuring alignment with approved proposals, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate and develop project staff, enhancing their capacity and autonomy.
• Apply AVSI logistics, safety, security, communication, and administrative procedures.
• Promote synergies with other national and international programmes.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on project progress and outcomes.
• Prepare narrative and financial reports for donors and compile required documentation.
• Maintain proactive relationships with donors, partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Represent AVSI in sector coordination structures and contribute to donor programming and new funding opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Energy, Rural Development, Economics, Management, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a development or humanitarian context.
• At least 1 year of experience managing clean‑cooking projects in Africa.
• Proficiency in English (written and oral) at C1 level.
