WASH Officer

About the role

The WASH Officer will oversee construction and rehabilitation of WASH facilities across Pujehun, Moyamba and Bonthe districts. Reporting to the Construction/WASH Coordinator, the role ensures high‑quality, safe and sustainable works while supporting emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical needs assessments and feasibility studies for construction and rehabilitation projects.
• Prepare design specifications, bills of quantities and technical assessments for engineering works.
• Visit and evaluate proposed sites, consult with communities and authorities, and make implementation decisions.
• Monitor construction progress, safety, speed and quality, addressing any risks or issues.
• Lead and coordinate supervisors, engineers, consultants, contractors and work teams.
• Organise pre‑construction meetings with contractors to convey technical requirements.
• Participate in emergency preparedness activities and respond to emergencies as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years experience in construction or WASH project implementation.
• Proven ability to conduct technical assessments, design, budgeting and supervision.
• Experience working in challenging, resource‑limited environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
