African Language AI Specialist

About the role

DataLens Africa is looking for native or fluent speakers of African languages to help train cutting‑edge AI systems. As an African Language AI Specialist you will work remotely, using your language expertise to create high‑quality data that improves how AI understands and responds in African languages.

Key responsibilities

• Create, translate, and transcribe text in the African language(s) you speak.
• Rate and rank AI model responses to guide model learning.
• Review and validate content for accuracy, tone, and cultural relevance.
• Identify and flag linguistic nuances such as idioms, dialects, and context that AI often misses.
• For experienced contributors, quality‑check the work of other annotators.

Required profile

• Native or fluent speaker of one or more supported African languages.
• Strong reading and writing ability in the selected language(s).
• Excellent attention to detail and a consistent, careful approach.
• Reliable internet connection and a smartphone or laptop.
• No prior technical experience required; entry‑level candidates are welcome.
• Bonus: background in translation, linguistics, teaching, journalism, or content writing.
