AI and Digital Innovation Intern

About the role

UNICEF Sierra Leone is looking for a motivated intern to support its AI and digital innovation agenda. The role will give you hands‑on experience in documenting AI use cases, coordinating learning sessions and assisting with digital projects that improve outcomes for children.

Key responsibilities

• Support coordination of the Sierra Leone Country Office AI roadmap, tracking quick wins, timelines and action items.
• Document practical AI and NLP use cases across programme and operations sections.
• Prepare meeting notes, action points and updates from AI‑related discussions.
• Assist in creating materials for AI learning sessions, prompt‑engineering clinics and demonstrations.
• Organise AI resources, templates and presentations on SharePoint or other internal platforms.
• Collect feedback from AI learning activities and summarise key insights.
• Document AI/NLP ecosystem actors, including universities, youth innovators and language technology groups.
• Support planning and documentation for AI/NLP convenings, hackathons or innovation challenges.
• Provide documentation and follow‑up for digital innovation workstreams such as DPG/DPI mapping, U‑Report, Learning Passport and RapidPro.
• Maintain trackers, consolidate updates and prepare briefs, presentations and knowledge products.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate from Sierra Leone.
• Strong interest in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and child‑focused development.
• Excellent written communication and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of AI and NLP concepts.
• Experience with prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms.
