AI and Digital Innovation Intern

About the role
UNICEF Sierra Leone is looking for a motivated AI and Digital Innovation Intern to support the implementation of its AI roadmap and digital innovation initiatives. This internship offers hands‑on experience in documenting AI use cases, coordinating learning sessions, and engaging with the local AI/NLP ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Support coordination of the AI roadmap, including tracking quick wins, timelines, and action items.
- Document practical AI use cases across programme and operations sections.
- Prepare meeting notes, action points, and updates from AI‑related discussions.
- Assist in creating materials for AI learning sessions, prompt‑engineering clinics, and demonstrations.
- Maintain and organize AI resources, templates, and presentations on SharePoint or other internal platforms.
- Collect feedback from AI learning activities and summarise key insights.
- Document AI/NLP actors, universities, youth innovators, and relevant partners in Sierra Leone.
- Help plan and document AI/NLP convenings, innovation challenges, hackathons, or youth‑facing activities.
- Provide documentation and follow‑up support for digital innovation workstreams such as DPG/DPI mapping, U‑Report, Learning Passport, RapidPro, and others.
- Prepare briefs, presentations, and knowledge products that illustrate how AI and digital innovation contribute to results for children.
- Produce an end‑of‑internship handover note summarising work completed, resources, pending actions, and recommendations.
Required profile
- Sierra Leonean student or recent graduate with a strong interest in artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
- Good organisational and communication skills to support coordination and documentation tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple UNICEF sections and external partners.
