About the role
The senior driver will support Save the Children’s logistics operations in Sierra Leone, ensuring the fleet is safe, well‑maintained and ready for program activities. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the role is essential for the smooth movement of staff, supplies and equipment across the country.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the good use and condition of the vehicle fleet, including cars and motorbikes.
- Enforce the organization’s vehicle policy and ensure all service and maintenance documentation is completed on time.
- Secure and fuel vehicles, verify that drivers follow all safety and operational rules.
- Check security notices before each trip and plan movements accordingly.
- Organise daily fleet inspections, confirming documents, equipment, fluids and fuel levels.
- Arrange necessary supplies and services, keep vehicles clean, and ensure keys are stored securely.
- Communicate vehicle needs and conditions to teams, assist with incident reporting, and transmit all relevant forms to the Fleet/Mechanic Officer.
- File all fleet documentation, report any defects, and supervise internal or external maintenance activities.
- Monitor generator usage for vehicles where applicable.
Required profile
- Senior driver with proven experience in vehicle operation and fleet management.
- Ability to follow strict safety, security and child‑safeguarding procedures (Level 3).
- Strong record‑keeping skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and coordination with internal staff, NGOs, local authorities and security forces.
