Finance Manager - Shipping and Logistics (West Africa)

About the role

A leading international shipping and logistics group operating across Africa is looking for a hands-on Finance Manager for its West Africa operations. The role reports to the Group Financial Manager and covers the local books, month-end, tax and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own the local accounting, month-end and year-end close, and prepare Group reporting under IFRS.
• Lead the financial performance of the business unit, including budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, cash flow and profitability.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank and intercompany reconciliations, fixed assets, statutory reporting and working capital management.
• Ensure compliance with local legislation, VAT, corporate tax and withholding tax, internal controls and group policies, and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Deliver variance analysis, financial modelling, business cases and insights for executives.
• Support pricing, tenders, contracts, investments and commercial initiatives with financial analysis.
• Drive process improvement, financial governance, ERP optimisation, dashboards and system integration.
• Build and develop the finance team, set performance objectives and support succession planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field; CPA, ACCA or CIMA considered advantageous.
• Extensive experience in finance, accounting or financial controlling, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding or related industries.
• Fluent English and strong IFRS; experience in Sierra Leone or wider West Africa is a strong advantage.
• Strong financial, analytical, governance, compliance and risk management skills, with attention to detail.
• Hands-on approach: personally executing accounting functions rather than only supervising them.
