General Manager - Social Business Development

About the role

SBD Social Business Development, a mission-driven social enterprise producing poultry and feed and supporting agricultural development and local entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone, is hiring a General Manager for its operations in Makeni. With about 100 employees and around 4.5 million eggs produced annually, SBD aims to reach "Zero Imported Eggs by 2029". Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager oversees business operations, financial performance, strategic development and institutional partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate business operations, including poultry production, feed manufacturing, sales and logistics.
• Manage budgets, financial performance and investment priorities.
• Develop strategic partnerships with institutions, donors and private-sector stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop local teams.
• Support agricultural development projects and the expansion of SBD's social impact.
• Represent SBD at national and international level.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in business management, international cooperation, agribusiness or related fields.
• Proven experience managing complex operations, teams, budgets and partnerships.
• Strong financial, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
• Willingness to live and work in Sierra Leone; previous experience in West Africa, agribusiness, international development or social enterprises is an advantage.
• Poultry expertise is not required, as the GM is supported by SBD's international technical team.
