Patient Flow Assistant

About the role

The Patient Flow Assistant supports the smooth movement of patients through the clinic, ensuring efficient registration, triage, and care processes under the supervision of the Operations Assistant. This role combines reception duties, patient escorting, and filing of patient records to maintain an organized workflow for staff, physicians, and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Direct patients from the waiting area to designated clinic zones, announce names for registration and pharmacy pick‑up, and organize seating queues by arrival order.
• Collect patient numbers before screening, greet and escort patients to triage or clinical areas, and assist with wayfinding and social‑distance arrangements.
• Support patient transfers and discharges, including copying documents, arranging transport, and handling emergent transfers.
• Maintain patient privacy and safety by ensuring accurate patient identification and responding to emergencies.
• Organize and file patient charts on shelves using registration codes, retrieve files for screening and registration, and keep filing areas clean and accessible.
• Collect and file pharmacy‑issued documents, and coordinate with screening and registration staff to ensure records are correctly placed.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Dependable, approachable, and able to maintain a positive attitude under pressure while delivering excellent customer service.
• Self‑starter with proactive attitude, capable of translating ideas into action and working independently.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow prescribed routines and standard practices.
• Possession of a West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE).
