About the role
The Programme Associate will support the Education Section in Freetown by providing procedural, administrative and operational assistance for the country programme. Working under the supervision of the Chief Education Section, the role ensures timely and accurate delivery of programme activities in line with UNICEF regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate the development of Programme Cooperation Agreements (PCAs) by drafting selected sections and providing necessary information.
- Record and process government and NGO proposals for Direct Cash Transfers (DCTs) accurately and on time.
- Conduct programme monitoring in focus districts, reporting on cash and supply distributions.
- Perform spot checks of partner projects to assess financial record‑keeping, expenditure controls and reporting systems.
- Monitor and track the efficient distribution of supplies required for programme delivery.
- Research, compile and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to support reporting, working papers and presentations.
- Enter and amend transactions in UNICEF’s VISION system, ensuring correct coding and grant tracking.
- Prepare monitoring and reporting information on performance indicators for the supervisor and team.
- Regularly monitor section budgets and financial expenditures using applicable tools.
Required profile
- Sierra Leone national (open to Sierra Leone nationals only).
- Ability to work under guidance of senior staff and support the Education Section.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle administrative tasks accurately.
Required skills
- Proficiency with UNICEF’s VISION financial management system.
