About the role
The Head of Office will lead UN Women’s country office in Sierra Leone, translating the organization’s strategic plan into concrete development initiatives that advance gender equality and women’s empowerment across the nation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Sierra Leone Country Office portfolio.
- Ensure alignment of UN Women’s strategic objectives with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2025‑2030) and the national development plan.
- Coordinate with national institutions, civil society, and UN partners to embed gender‑responsive laws, policies, and practices.
- Oversee performance monitoring, results reporting, and financial tracking in line with UNCT‑SWAP and MAF requirements.
- Represent UN Women as a member of the UN Country Team, reporting jointly with the Resident Coordinator.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment, and development programming.
- Proven senior‑level leadership in a multilateral or international development context.
- Strong understanding of UN system processes, results‑based management, and coordination mechanisms.
