About the role
We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with US or UK coding standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze patient medical records, operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes.
- Assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
- Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines for revenue cycle management.
- Identify documentation gaps and query physicians or clinical staff for clarification.
- Correct coding errors, resolve claim denials, and support reimbursement optimization.
- Maintain high data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline changes.
Required profile
- 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
- Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) and high‑speed internet with backup power supply.
Required skills
- US coding standards: ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS.
- UK coding standards: ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT.
- Electronic Health Record systems: Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, SystmOne.
