Project Director, CDC Sierra Leone

About the role

World Vision is seeking a senior Project Director to lead a $30 million CDC‑funded initiative that strengthens public health systems in Sierra Leone. The role will guide the design, implementation, and evaluation of activities that improve disease surveillance, diagnostics, workforce capacity, and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination for all project activities and staff.
• Serve as the primary liaison between CDC, consortium partners, host‑country agencies, and key stakeholders.
• Develop Country Operating Plans, set annual targets, and ensure alignment with CDC goals and requirements.
• Manage project resources in collaboration with the Senior Management Team and supervise interdisciplinary teams.
• Lead the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to drive continuous quality improvement.
• Identify and resolve project challenges, fostering an environment of trust and mutual respect.

Required profile

• Extensive applied experience in disease surveillance, health‑system strengthening, and public‑health agencies, preferably in contexts similar to Sierra Leone.
• Proven leadership, strategic thinking, team‑development, and change‑management abilities.
• Demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively with government bodies, development partners, civil society, and community organisations.
• Strong communication skills to represent the project with CDC, partners, and local stakeholders.
